Exploration of New Media
The Media Arts concentration takes into account the climate of media convergence in which communications professionals find themselves. Journalists make movies. Videographers blog. Advertisers Tweet. No longer are the lines between the various communications media clear, nor are the modes of communicating discrete.
The Media Arts Concentration has as its focus a critical engagement—as both consumers and producers—with technologically mediated images. As media converge in our increasingly digital world, our students ability to thoughtfully, artfully, and knowledgably blend text, sounds and images will be a differentiator.
