William J. Holmes Sports and Fitness Center & Lifelong Exercise and Activities Program

The William J. Holmes Sports and Fitness Center contains an eight-lane pool, a gymnasium, two dance studios, two weight training rooms, one-sixteenth mile indoor running area, a cardiovascular training facility, and racquetball and squash courts. The Center is open to the Simmons community, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. There is no fee for students, faculty, and staff. Guests will be admitted with members only. Students may bring two guests per visit. Faculty, staff, and alumni may bring one guest per visit. The Simmons-affiliated member must accompany all guests in the activity areas. Family memberships are available for a fee.

Lifelong Exercise and Activities Program (LEAP)

LEAP is designed to provide non-credit instructional classes and recreational activities. The program's mission is to provide the opportunities and education needed for students, faculty, staff, and alumnae/i to develop lifestyles of physical fitness and health. Classes are offered at a reasonable charge and offer instruction in the areas of aerobics, dance, fitness and conditioning.

LEAP is open to the Simmons College community and to the members of the Holmes Sports Center, i.e., students, faculty, staff, family members, and alumnae/i.

LEAP classes begin at the start of the fall and spring semesters. Class lengths vary from one- to two-hours and run 10-11 weeks. Classes are held at the William J. Holmes Sports and Fitness Center. Please consult the LEAP class schedule at for all starting dates.
